William E. Scott, MD
Dr. Scott is an Emeritus Professor of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the U of Iowa College of Medicine and Medical Director of the Iowa KidSight, a vision screening program for pre-school children, which he founded in 2000. He served as Vice-Chair of Ophthalmology (1995-2001) and retired in 2002. He trained 55 fellows and numerous residents. He was one of the founders of AAPOS and served as president of the American Orthoptic Council and of AAPOS. He was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received, the Physician Community Service Award from the Iowa Medical Society, the JCAHPO Faculty Award for Distinguished Service, AAO’s Distinguished Service Award and AAPOS Senior Honor Award. He published more than 250 articles, chapters or books and delivered over 325 invited lectures and presentations including the Costenbader, Scobee, Jampolsky, Braley, Parks, von Noordenand Young-Thomas Lectures.
