Susan H. Day, MD
Dr. Day served as President of AAPOS in 2004-5. She practiced pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus for 34 years in San Francisco, California, delighting in the privilege, the intellectual challenges, and the collegial relationships. Upon retirement, she relocated to Chicago where she is currently Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs, for ACGME International. Dr. Day’s professional career has been highlighted by leadership positions and awards including the Parks Bronze Medal; the Lucien Howe Medal; the AAO and AAPOS lifetime achievement awards; Past President of the AAO, American Ophthalmological Society and Association of University Professors in Ophthalmology; and Board Chair, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. She has presented numerous named lectures, including the Frank Costenbader lecture in 2011. She is indebted to her numerous colleagues and students, and particularly to Doctors Arthur Jampolsky, Alan Scott, William Scott and David Taylor.
