M. Edward Wilson, MD
Dr. Wilson, the N. Edgar Miles Professor of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC, has served as President of AAPOS and Council Chair of the American Ophthalmological Society .He served as Storm Eye Institute Director and Ophthalmology Department Chair, for 15 years, from 1996-2011. Dr. Wilson has received Lifetime Achievement Awards from AAPOS in 2010 and the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2016. He was elected to the prestigious Squint Club and was awarded the Claud Worth Medal. Dr. Wilson has given more than 700 invited presentations including 21 named lectures. He has written or contributed to 27 books and published over 250 scientific publications on a wide variety of subjects. By 2016, Dr. Wilson has trained 35 fellows from the USA and another 37 international fellows from 18 countries.
