Grace Parks Mitchell, RN, MA
Born into a family of 11 prompted Ms. Mitchell to value service, punctuated by 2 most influential persons, parents Angeline and Marshall Parks. An RN, she served as burn unit supervisor at DC’s Children’s Hospital, the NICU at George Washington University, and surgery at Dartmouth’s Mary Hitchcock Hospital. Marrying Paul Mitchell, MD, following his military service in Tulsa - residency at Wills Eye Hospital, and a Parks fellowship - they raised 3 children. Returning to academia to explore the human condition, she earned a Women’s Studies’ BA, and American Studies’ MA at Trinity College, with awards including American Association of University Women’s Woman of the Year. However, the human condition still eludes. Director of Connecticut’s Women’s Hall of Fame, lecturing and publishing on influential historical women, she serves on the CEF Board, dedicated to its mission to end childhood blindness. She resides in Connecticut with Paul as proud grandparents of 9 grandchildren.
