Albert W. Biglan, MD
Dr. Biglan was Director of Ophthalmology at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He trained over 200 residents and 21 U.S. and 22 international fellows. He authored 163 articles and book chapters. After he retired in 2006, he was honored with the “Al Biglan” lectureship medal by his department. Al was on the AAO Council and was appointed to the Clinical Practice Expert Panel for Medicare. Al served as Chair of the Socioeconomic, Site Selection and Strategic Planning Committees of AAPOS as well as President in 2000. With the blessing of Marshall M. Parks, he brought CEF into an affiliation with AAPOS as its Foundation. He delivered the Costenbader lecture, and was granted a Senior Honor Award. Al is a member of the American Ophthalmological Society and the Squint Club, and served as president of the PA Academy of Ophthalmology.
